Students and Parents
Families are the backbone of student success. We believe the family that works, plays and learns together, grows together. In that spirit, there are many ways for families to become involved in their children’s education. Whether by volunteering at a school or taking part in one of the DPS Family Day events, participating in a school Community Education Council or helping with homework, adult involvement means a world of difference in the successful development of a child, as a current student and lifelong learner.
Who says you can’t get something for nothing nowadays? During Family Day events, families and students attending district schools are invited to participate in an afternoon of free fun at a rotating list of community attractions. Sponsored by the Title I Parent Involvement program, DPS Family Day has been held at Aullwood Audubon Center and Farm, the Boonshoft Museum, Dayton Art Institute, the downtown Dayton library, and the US Air Force Museum. This is the sixth year the program has hosted the events, funded with Title I money.
