Belmont News . . .      May 2011

FROM THE DESK OF THE PRINCIPAL:

Congratulations to students and staff for another great job during OGT week.  We all worked very hard to make March the best test month ever.

Thank you to parents for all of your support by encouraging your student to come to school and recognizing how important this test is to your child’s future.

We are now in the 4th quarter, and with the weather changing, it is important to remind our students that proper dress is still required.  Also, this is the quarter that determines eligibility for fall sports.  So, complete all assignments, and continue to work hard in class every day.

Finally, as we come to the end of this school-year, it is important that we all follow the Five B’s:

  • Be Prepared
  • Be on Time
  • Be Respectful
  • Be Accountable
  • Be Consistent

Seriously,
Mr. White

Seniors:

The deadline for senior dues and senior obligations (lab fees, lost textbooks, etc.)  is May 6.  You cannot march if dues and obligations are not paid by this date.

Seniors who fail to meet graduation requirements (including OGT) will not receive a May, 2011 diploma, but may earn a summer diploma if they finish requirements during the summer.

Juniors:

Summer time is a great time to visit colleges. Local colleges include Sinclair, Wright State University, Central State University, and University of Dayton.

Credits

In order to be promoted to the next grade, students must earn credits.  Credits are assigned in January and June.  One-half credit is earned for a passing grade in each half-year or semester course.  Gym is the exception with one-quarter credit.  Please note the credits needed for each grade level: Sophomore-5; Junior-10; Senior-14. You must earn 20 to graduate. In addition to earning credits, you must successfully complete required courses).
