Community invited to preview Fairview school design

Members of the community can preview the design for the new Fairview PK-8 School at a public meeting scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Monday, March 23, 2009, at the Fairview United Methodist Church, 828 Fairview Ave. at the corner of Fairview and Catalpa avenues. A light supper will be served before the meeting at 6 p.m.
Ground was broken for the school in October 2008, following a celebration of the Phoenix Project redevelopment area near Good Samaritan Hospital. The new Fairview PK-8 School will be built at a new location (off Hillcrest Avenue, between Elsmere and Ravenwood avenues) in the heart of the Phoenix Project, known as Fairview Commons. Fairview Commons is designed to link various public amenities and create a new public space for the neighborhood.
The school is scheduled to open in 2010 and will serve more than 450 students in pre-kindergarten through grade eight.
