Race to the Top
Thanks to unprecedented cooperation and collaboration between DPS teachers and administrators, our district “Race to the Top” plan is moving full speed ahead! These key participants are focusing on creating a plan that will serve as the blueprint and foundation for academic reform throughout the district.
The DPS “Race to the Top” plan will focus on four major areas:
• Standards and accountability
• Utilizing data
• Creating effective teachers and leaders
• Turning around low-performing schools
Race to the Top is a four-year initiative that will conclude in the 2013-2014 school year. Team members are currently working to create new academic content standards that will dovetail with new state standards that also will take effect at the end of the four years.
Dayton Public Schools administrators and Dayton Education Association members are working collaboratively to develop a new unified curriculum, ensuring that all students across the district are working on the same material, regardless of the school they attend.
